Direct Sales in Paradise:
Making the lives of peer-to-peer sellers easier with Maven Labs
GRAPHIC DESIGN, WEB DESIGN, UI DESIGN, MARKETING
When I first partnered with Maven Labs, they were just hitting the ground running. Their goal was to bring technology to direct sellers, an industry that had still been running on paper filing systems and manual follow-ups. A preliminary user described taking large filing folders into sales meetings. But beyond bringing mobile technology to direct sellers, Maven's goal is to empower women entrepreneurs who are on-the-go, often supporting their families, and looking to thrive in a business setting. I had the opportunity to design Maven's website as they got their product launched and a beta program in place.
Maven's main product is a mobile app that manages sellers' contacts and products and provides personalized recommendations for actions and follow-ups. The app's high level goal is to take out the cognitive overhead in running your business. Since many sellers were using a manual system, it was important to highlight the ease of transitioning to a technological solution in the onboarding process. My goal was to make the visual design clean, efficient, and simple.
How Do You Like Them (Pine)Apples?
As the Maven Labs team continued to listen to their users and discover the best ways to make their lives easier, an unusual motif came to the forefront: a pineapple. Co-founder and CEO Amal Dar Aziz saw a quote that went something like, "Be a pineapple: Stand tall. Wear a crown. Be sweet on the inside." However, she felt like the direct sellers she worked with were stronger than that. Thus, "...Be sweet on the inside and tough on the outside" was born. The pineapple not only symbolized the direct sellers themselves, but also represented Maven's mission: to make direct sellers' jobs easier, more carefree, and fun.
